Preparing for Your First Visit

What is Acupuncture and is it right for you?

Acupuncture is a well-established, non-invasive therapeutic modality rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, practiced for centuries. This technique involves the precise insertion of sterile, single-use needles at specific acupuncture points on the body. These points serve to:

  • A) Regulate the flow of Qi (vital energy) along meridians: This regulation may involve tonifying, sedating, or moving Qi to restore balance.

  • B) Address Qi stagnation: Stagnant Qi often manifests as muscular tension, soreness, and pain. Acupuncture facilitates the release of this stagnation, promoting musculoskeletal comfort.

We encourage you to explore the potential benefits of acupuncture as a component of your wellness strategy.

After Your Appointment

Overall acupuncture can initiate the release of some “feel good” hormones. which may cause you to feel a little drowsy, which is normal. Therefore it is recommend to take it easy for the rest of the day

For patients coming in for internal concerns (digestive and reproductive health), you may notice the urge to use the restroom right after your visit. It is suggested to have some water or tea.

For patients coming in for pain management, you may experience some soreness in the area in question, which is normal. The soreness should dissipate within a day. It is recommend to avoid any strenuous activities or heavy lifting after your first visit.
